Eye-Opening Report from the AP: China Cuts Uyghur Births with IUDs, Abortion, Sterilization
In their new report, the AP finds that China is taking draconian measures to slash birth rates among Uyghurs and other minorities in campaign to curb Muslim population, which experts are calling it “demographic genocide”.
The AP continues that China regularly subjects minority women to pregnancy checks, forced intrauterine devices, sterilization, and abortion. Hundreds of thousands have been affected, with IUD and sterilization rates rising sharply in East Turkestan, compared to a decline in the rest of the country.
The population control plan implemented by China is backed by mass detention as a punishment for failure to comply. Having too many children is a reason people are sent to the camps, with parents of three ripped away from their families. Children are often hidden during police raids.
Once in the camps, women are subjected to forced IUDs, pregnancy prevention shots, force-fed birth control pills. After being released, many found they were sterile. Sterilization rates surged seven-fold in Xinjiang from 2016 to 2018 while rates in the rest of the country plunged.
Birth rates in Uyghur regions plunged by more than 60% from 2015 to 2018. Birth rates across East Turkestan plummet 24% annually, compared to 4.2% nationwide. Children whose parents are in the camps are indoctrinated in state-controlled orphanages. Children in orphanages are not allowed to hug their parents, and are counting the days until they can see them. This is full-stop genocide.
In one case, Abdushukur Umar was sentenced to seven years in prison, one for each child he had. Too many children is the most common reason for imprisonment in some East Turkestan counties.
At the same time, the CCP is aggressively promoting intermarriage between Han Chinese and Uyghurs.
