Save Uyghur Applauds UK Parliament’s Uyghur Genocide Declaration
On April 22, 2021, British Parliamentarians recognized the severe repression of Uyghurs and other Turkic speaking nations by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in East Turkestan as genocide. The Save Uyghur Campaign applauds the UK Parliament for taking the right step in declaring the atrocities committed by the Chinese government as genocide. We call on the UK parliament to apply measures in their economic and political interactions with China that are parallel with this new Uyghur genocide declaration.
Regarding the declaration, Save Uyghur Campaign team-lead Serwi Huseyin stated, “Today, Uyghurs in diaspora and our team are pleased to see that the UK parliament joined the US state department, Canadian and Dutch parliaments in declaring this 21st century holocaust as genocide. I call on countries around the world to follow these countries in declaring China’s treatment on Uyghurs and other ethnic Turkic speaking nations as genocide and take solid actions to stop China’s ongoing crimes against humanity. More than three million Uyghurs, Kazakhs, and other Turkic speaking population in East Turkestan are suffering in detention facilities in East Turkestan. We can only hold Chinese government accountable for this crime through unified global sanctions and action against China.”
