Save Uyghur Campaign Applauds Secretary of State Anthony Blinken’s Approach Regarding the Uyghur Genocide and Forced Labor

The Save Uyghur Campaign of Justice For All applauds Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s recent statements in regards to the Chinese government’s ongoing genocide of the Uyghur people and the prevention of Uyghur forced labor products entering US markets. On Sunday, the secretary of state, Antony Blinken, in an interview conducted by NBC, rebuked China’s genocidal policy against the Uyghurs by saying that the US government stands “resolutely against egregious violations of human rights, or in this case, acts of genocide​,” and called on US compainies to stop conducting business with Chinese compaines which use Uyghur forced labor in their supply chains. He also called on countries around the globe to take solid actions to cut ties with Chinese factories that facilitate China’s repression of the Uyghurs. However, when asked about boycotting the 2022 Beijing Olympics, Antony Blinken stated that the US government is yet to decide, and is consulting closely with its allies and partners on a coordinated response.

The Chinese Government’s abuses stand in clear violation of the Genocide Convention, and condemnation and actions from the United States and other nations can help prevent further acts of genocide. It is the duty of the US State Department, Department of Commerce as well as the US International Trade Commission to ensure that goods produced with Uyghur forced labor do not enter markets in the United States

While Save Uyghur applauds the stance that US government is taking against China’s genocidal campaign on Uyghurs, Save Uyghur urges the US government to pass the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act in order to prevent Uyghur forced labor products entering US markets, and also to pass the Uyghur Human Rights Protection Act to provide expedited P2 Visa services for Uyghurs who are fleeing from China’s oppression. SaveUyghur also urges the US Olympic Committee to boycott the 2022 Beijing Olympics as China is committing a level of genocidal acts against the Uyghurs and other Turkic speaking populations in East Turkestan that is unprecedented in modern times.
